Hide-and-Seek Mishap

If you remember, Parker had a little trouble watching hockey on SportsCenter a while back. Well, he’s at it again. Last night, he and his brothers with up in Seth’s room watching a movie. (Or so we thought) A game of Hide-and-Seek broke out and yada yada yada . . .

Parker after a session of Hide and Seek

Apparently, one of the twins weren’t watching where they were going and Parker’s cheek hit Casey’s head. Casey fell down from the contact, but Parker got the worse of it. This picture was taken after the swelling went down a little bit.

Bill Cosby – Himself

OK, so my wife and I are watching the Bill Cosby stand-up show from 1983, “Himself”. I remember watching this years and years ago, but I don’t remember it being this funny. Any parent should watch this show if given the opportunity. If you’ve got some time on your hands and a high speed Internet connection now, you can find them all on Google Video. If you only watch 1 of them, make sure you check out Part 2. Here are the links:

Typical JazzFest Weekend in New Orleans

You fly from St. Louis to New Orleans to enjoy a fun weekend at JazzFest only to wonder if there is a curb under all that water. . .

JazzFest Rain

A thought crosses your mind that you need shoes that have soles thick enough to keep you out of the water rushing down the street. . .

Big shoes

What? You mean it’s legal to walk down the street and drink alcohol here? Where’s my margarita?. . .

Margarita

Oh. . . Is that what happens when you drink too much on the streets?. . .

Passed out on the street

Let’s just pose in front of that big Viking head. . .

Viking

My husband would love that outfit. I’ll take 2. . .

Parade

These were the thoughts and images from Brandy and Tara’s trip to New Orleans this weekend. I’m looking forward to what they come across tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Crank Caller

I was sitting on the couch, folding laundry, being a good husband :-) when my cell phone starts vibrating, vibrating NOT ringing. I start pulling it out of my belt clip to answer it, immediately thinking that something was broken at work. Before I get a chance to look at the caller id, Parker comes running down the stairs shouting at me to answer my phone. My first thought was, “How did you know my phone was ringing?”.

Flashback 1 month:
I decided that my kids should know our phone number. But which number should I teach them? I decided that the number that had the best chance of getting answered and for us to keep for quite a while was my cell phone. So I spend a few days quizzing them on it until they have it memorized.

Flashback to yesterday:
I look at my phone for caller id and on the display is: “Home”. “What, home is calling me?”; I think to myself. Then I look at Parker’s mischievous face and put 1 and 1 together. I wonder up to the upstairs phone, which I find lying on my desk, waiting for me to answer. I hung up that phone and chased Parker throughout the house to tickle him till he learns his lesson.

We’ll see if he did or not.

How-To Lesson for boys

Since my post regarding the sex talk with a girl, I’ve received a similar link for a conversation with boys. Since turnabout is fair play, I thought I’d post the YouTube video: (Warning: Adult Content)

First Hockey Injury

Parker’s first hockey injuryThis post was originally made on January 31 in my blogspot blog, but I’ve had a request to repost it in one of my current blogs, so here ya go.

My son had his first hockey injury a couple days ago. That’s the short story. If you want details, well. . . I was watching Sports Center the other morning. My son saw the highlights for hockey and got excited. He started running toward the tv and tripped about 2 feet away from the tv. As he went down, his mouth hit the tv. His tooth is still there, it is just pushed up into his gums. He cried a lot less than I would have if it happened to me.

The sex talk with your daughter

I have a feeling the following conversation would be completely different with boys.

A Mother and 9 year old Daughter were driving by a pharmacy. . .

Mother: That is where you get medicine and pills.

Daughter: I want to get the pill that makes me not have babies.

Mother: (A little awe struck) The best way to do that is to not have sex.

Daughter: (after a few seconds of contemplation) That means you’ve had sex since you have 2 kids.

Mother: Yes, but only with my husband; whom I love.

Daughter: Can you tell me more about sex?

Mother: I can’t explain it right now since we are driving.

Daughter: Well, let me know when you and dad are gunna do it, so that I can see what it is all about.

Suddenly, I’m very happy that I have all boys!

Parentcenter resource

I’ve been a subscriber to parentcenter for over 5 years now. There I was 5 1/2 months ago, my wife was pregnant with twin boys, and I was completely unaware of what was going to happen. By becoming a member on their site and entering my kids due date, I began receiving weekly updates on what was happening in my unborn baby’s life. Those emails didn’t stop after they were born either. I continued to receive those weekly emails giving this clueless parent clues about how to handle certain situations. Those clues ranged from how to handle the nightly feeding schedules to hints about taking your infant out to a restaurant.

This site definitely has a tilt toward the mother, but the involved father can relate to a majority of the articles too.
